Organized Trips and Local Attractions
Excursions to Glamis Castle, the Glenturret Distillery, and Falkland Palace are scheduled for the Wednesday afternoon. All coaches will leave at 14:00 from New Hall, and will return in the evening.
Below are the details of the trips, as well as information relating to activities and attractions within St Andrews if you choose not to participate in the excursions.
1. Glamis Castle
Cost: 30 GBP per person - No tickets remaining
Glamis Castle has a maximum 5 star Scottish tourist board rating, and is also known as one of the most haunted castles in Britain.
The party will be greeted upon arrival by the host and guide. The welcome will continue with a reception of tea, coffee and shortbread in the exclusive 16th Century Kitchens.
The party will be taken on a private guided tour of the State Rooms and Royal Apartments. Each guest will receive a complimentary guidebook prior to the tour or just prior to departure.
Following the private tour, and time permitting, guests will be free to explore the extensive gardens, where encouters with red squirrels and highland cows can be expected.
2. Glenturret Distillery and Famous Grouse Experience
Cost: 20 GBP per person - No tickets remaining
Glenturret Distillery is the oldest distillery in Scotland, and has a maximum 5 star Scottish tourist board rating. Guests will see first hand how the Glenturret single malt is made. The tour includes 2 drams of whisky.
3. Falkland Palace
Cost: 25 GBP per person - [BOOK/PAY HERE]
Falkland Palace is an impressive Renaissance building built by James IV and James V between 1450 and 1541. A once favoured place of retreat and leisure for the Stuart Kings and Queens of Scotland, including Mary Queen of Scots.
After the self-guided tour guests will have a chance to re-explore the Palace and gardens, and time permitting, the small picturesque village of Falkland.
