What kind of magnetic fields do high mass stars have? On the main sequence they have radiative interiors and so cannot generate magnetic fields by the same mechanism that is believed to operate in the Sun's outer convective regions. Before that, however, while they are still forming they may be able to generate magnetic fields by a convectively-driven dynamo. This young star may still have a fossil magnetic field left over from this early stage.
